Wow so let’s just address the elephant in the room—this is my first blog post in about a MONTH. Yikes! I’m not going to go into a long explanation right now but I will say that I’ve missed blogging SO much! It feels so good to be sitting here writing so let’s just jump right into today’s post. I thought it would be a good idea to come back with a Five Things post to just catch up with you guys and share some of the latest and greatest that’s been going on over here.
- I’m realizing I need to take more time for myself. April was such a busy month for me. I feel like I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but as I get older I’m realizing more and more that I have a tendency to over-extend myself and I’m not one of those people who thrives when they’re busy. Overbooking my weekends and nights after work drains me so fast and once I get overwhelmed, there’s almost nothing that can make me feel better besides just unplugging for an entire weekend. So April being so busy, between traveling a couple of weekends and doing a Blogger Closet Sale and then attending numerous events after work during the week, all really overwhelmed me and I’m so glad that things are finally calming down now. I’m looking forward to a slower May, focusing more on my blog and myself and taking care of things at home. I still want to get out and have fun with friends and family obviously, but I also want to be more cognizant about not booking too many things back to back.
- I think I’m ready to start seriously purging and cleaning my apartment. I finally bought the famous Marie Kondo book about decluttering your life and I think it’s time that I joined the decluttering movement. Part of my overwhelmed feelings lately have definitely stemmed from our apartment being pretty messy and cluttered. I realize that I’m a huge shopper and I don’t know that that’s necessarily going to change but I do want to get rid of things to make more space around the apartment. We’re also potentially moving this summer so I figure it’s better to start purging things now so we aren’t bringing a bunch of unnecessary stuff to our new place.
- BeyoncĂ© blessed us all last week. Unless you live under a rock, you know what I’m talking about. This obviously isn’t a “personal” one but I felt obligated to mention the Queen because I’m still recovering from the amazingness that was her Beychella performance. If you haven’t watched her Homecoming documentary on Netflix, I highly highly highly recommend you go watch it and just soak up all of her greatness. I saw a tweet that basically said one of the best things about BeyoncĂ© is how she doesn’t make you want to be her, she makes you want to be the best version of YOU. I literally couldn’t agree more! Her work ethic and success are so incredibly inspiring to me and honestly she’s kind of my inspiration for the rest of this month as I come back from my mini blogging hiatus. Just trying to channel my inner BeyoncĂ© over here!
- The travel bug has bit me again. Oh my god, this damn bug won’t leave me alone! With summer right around the corner, I have been thinking more and more about traveling and planning another trip since we don’t currently have one on the horizon. I’m torn between trying to go somewhere for the Fourth of July (I really don’t like spending it in the city!) or going somewhere for our 6th dating anniversary at the end of August. Last year we went to Fire Island which was such a great weekend getaway to cap off summer, but this year I think I’m leaning towards a cruise. I’ve never been on one so it would be another first for me. All that to say, please leave your travel recommendations in the comments! Open to domestic and international destinations but leaning towards something more budget-friendly since, again, we may be moving this summer which costs a pretty penny.
- I’m just so happy to be back guys! It’s so weird but even when I’m feeling burnt out, I still miss blogging. This past month has been weird and busy and literally flew by but I seriously thought about blogging everyday. I just couldn’t bring myself to write for some reason…Any way it feels so good to be back and I have so many things I need to post about (hello DR trip from two months ago?!). I’m not going to make any promises because I hate when creators keep promising all these “big things coming soon” and then don’t deliver, so I’ll just say I’m really happy to be back, and thank you for reading this and sticking with me.
How was that? I know it was a little bit all over the place but it’s my first post back! Give me a break. As usual, let me know what you think in the comments and if you can relate to any of these. Have an amazing Hump Day babe!
