Pretty Little Updates
Hi again, friends! Another Friday is upon us and I, for one, am so ready for the weekend. This week has been a busy one at work; which was good because it made it fly by but also was very tiresome. I’m definitely ready for some relaxation and some quality time with friends over the weekend. But that’s for the section at the end of this post…so what’s the latest and greatest since last week? Honestly not much. Kanye West has been spewing some…interesting things via social media and most recently, videos with TMZ and interviews with Charlamagne. Why am I bringing this up, you ask? Well my friend, something you may not know about me from reading my blog is that I actually LOVE pop culture and keep up with it pretty religiously. And so when things like this Kanye situation go down, or a new season of The Bachelor starts up, or Tristan Thompson cheats on a pregnant Khloe K, I have plenty of thoughts on it! I’ve been thinking a lot recently about adding a section on here where I can pop on to discuss my thoughts on current events/pop culture, and/or just share some shorter, quicker content with you guys when I’m not ready to do a full on blog post. Does that even make sense? Haha obviously I’m still working out the details of that in my mind but I *think* that may be coming to the blog this summer. Stay tuned ?

This is a NEW category that I’m adding to these Weekly Rewinds 🙂 Here I’ll break down random things I’m loving this week, such as music, movies, TV shows, a news story, and so on. Just another way for you and me to connect really.
- I’m currently reading You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero and I’m loving it! I feel like it’s the perfect book to get me back in the groove of things and really take on the second half of this year (which is rapidly approaching guys!). *Also love how chapter three was all about being present and keeping things in perspective…AKA what I JUST wrote an entire blog post about ?
- Statement earrings! I briefly mentioned this in the last Weekly Rewind but I’ve been so obsessed with bright, statement earrings for spring and summer this year. I swear I’ve worn this new yellow pair like three times this week.
- Podcasts! I’ve been getting more and more into podcasts lately and really enjoy listening to them during my morning commute. Some of my faves: The Influencer Podcast by Julie Solomon, Betch Slapped by Betches, and Serial (which I’ve finished but it was my very first podcast that basically got me into them in the first place so I felt obligated to mention it, ha!).
- theSkimm. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s a daily newsletter delivered straight to your inbox that basically skims the biggest news stories of that day and presents them in an easily-digestible AND entertaining way. I read theSkimm every single morning with my iced coffee when I get to my desk at work, and I have to say that I love that part of my morning routine. I hate watching the news so this is a great way for me to still be in the loop about current events without having to dedicate an hour+ to watching local news every night.

A little sneak peek into an upcoming blog post: after getting my new job a couple months ago I’ve (admittedly) been treating myself. I think treating yourself is SO important because you deserve a little love too sometimes! So that’s why even though I’m all about affordable fashion (and that’s NOT changing anytime soon), I did allow myself to splurge on these Gal Meets Glam dresses. They’re such great quality and perfect for so many occasions! I wore this one to work yesterday and got so many compliments! Stay tuned for some more #treatyoself posts and how I style these dresses coming SOON ?

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend! Let’s talk plans, shall we?
Tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo! During the day we are shooting some much needed PLH spring content (yay!) and just enjoying the beautiful weather in NYC. That night, Craig and I are going to dinner with some friends at this great Mexican restaurant called Sexy Taco Dirty Cash (I know, the name is so funny!) for some margaritas and plenty of tacos and guac! I’m so excited because I love love love Mexican food and am totally a margarita girl ?? so that should be lots of fun. Tonight we are finally seeing the new Avengers movie and I’m excited to see what all the hype has been about.
