A few months ago, I wrote a blog post explaining all about how to use LIKEtoKNOW.it as a consumer and I think it was a really helpful post if you’ve never heard of it before. This time around, I wanted to share my LIKEtoKNOW.it knowledge with other bloggers, specifically newer bloggers who are new to using LTK.it and rewardStyle. Affiliate income is a huge part of blogging in 2020, and LTK.it is arguably the most popular way to make it. When I got accepted to rewardStyle back in 2017, I was looking for any and all tips I could find on how to use LTK.it and how to start making some passive income, so today I’m sharing my top 5 LIKEtoKNOW.it pro-tips for beginner bloggers! In this blog post, you’ll find my top 5 tips, and there may or may not be a freebie at the end that you can download to get my TOP 10 LIKEtoKNOW.it tips! Okay, let’s jump right in.
5 Pro-Tips To Using LIKEtoKNOW.it as a Blogger
1) You don’t need to shop to link products. I think this is easily my number one tip when it comes to using LTK.it and using it smartly. I’ve given this tip to a few new bloggers and it always blows their minds. Fact: some of the best performing content in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app are product collages. You can make a cute collage using the product images on the retailer’s website with programs like Canva or Photoshop. (I even make them directly in Instagram stories sometimes!) So, next time you find a good sale but aren’t quite ready to shop, save five to ten of your favorite pieces on sale and make a product collage. Upload it in the LTK.it app as your “XYZ Sale Picks” and boom, you have a post for the day. This is also a great way to help your audience not only find out about good sales going on, but also help them shop by providing recommendations for them to check out.
2) While you are shopping, be sure to “favorite” all the products in your purchase for easy linking later with LinkNinja. This tip may sound obvious to some, or it may have just blown your mind a little. It’s seriously the most efficient and easy way to keep your favorite products in order and easily accessible so you can link from anywhere at any time. Now when you’re linking the products in your post, sending a link to someone via DM, or sharing a haul with swipe ups on stories, all of your recent purchases are right there for you, no searching necessary. My folder organization structure kind of varies and could probably be cleaned up, but I’ll typically create a new folder for whatever I’m linking that day and call it something like “NSALE-Shoes” or “BlackFriday-OldNavy” so that I have the retailer and some kind of date/time reference attached to it. It also helps to periodically go back and delete old folders that you no longer need.
3) When you’re posting in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, make sure you’re stacking your captions with keywords and hashtags. A lot of people (myself included) struggle with getting followers in the app. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that is the number one grievance that I’ve heard from other bloggers—a lack of LTK.it followers. Well, while you’re working on getting your followers up, you still need to focus on making your content findable within the app so that potential consumers and followers can shop it. Think of LTK.it as a product search engine. Not everyone comes there to shop only from influencers that they follow. They may open up the app and search “white jeans” and shop from a random post that comes up in their search results. And that post could be yours if you use the right keywords and hashtags *insert eye emoji here*. Moral of the story: add lots of keywords and hashtags to your captions so that you appear in searches. I typically will list out my keywords separated by commas, use the allotted three generic hashtags that the app allows you to add to your caption, and then physically type out more hashtags like #LTKsummer #whitejeans #abercrombiejeans. You never know which one might get your content seen by the right consumer, so don’t skip this step!
4) Mention your LIKEtoKNOW.it profile frequently and be sure to show your audience what it is and how to use it regularly. This one speaks for itself. It only works if you work it. You can’t mention that you’re on LTK.it one time and expect people to flock there. A lot of my followers aren’t even familiar with it to begin with! You have to treat it like people have never heard of it before, and spell it out for them. Sure, some people may roll their eyes, but others will be grateful for the lesson and potentially convert to a follower in the app. I suggest making a highlight on your Instagram profile, and saving your tutorial and profile information there. I also save my product collages and other stories like random hauls there too, so that if someone checks that highlight out on Instagram, they can see all the good stuff they’re potentially missing out on over on LTK.it. Generating a little FOMO never hurt anybody.
5) Study your analytics and don’t be afraid to repost content that is performing well. You can see through your rewardStyle dashboard what products are generating clicks and what LTK.it posts are making the most commission. Use that data to establish what posts are doing well and may be worth a repost, whether it be in the app or on your Instagram story. For example, I had a skincare post do really well and generate a big commission off one person’s purchase. So I reposted that exact same image, with a slightly different caption a week or two later. It doesn’t always do as well the second or third time around but again, you never know who is just discovering your content and may be compelled to buy something off that post that you just reposted from a month ago. Furthermore, you can repost your LTK.it posts in your stories as much as you want. Have a product collage for a great sale going on? Post that a few days in a row with a call to action like “ENDS TOMORROW!” or “Last Day To Shop!” so that someone who may have been on the fence earlier knows they need to pull the trigger soon, or you may reach someone who missed your stories the first time around.
