I don’t know about you guys, but I love me some skincare products. For a while I was obsessed with hair products, trying everything that I could get my hands on; but for a while now I’ve been really into trying out different skincare products to see what works best for my face. After lots of trial and error, I think I’ve got a good skincare system down, and am really happy with all of the products that I’ve been using. Breaking down my favorite cleansers, moisturizers, and makeup removers in 3…2…1!
Cleansers
Okay first things first, let’s get into the cleansers. It’s so important to make sure you’re using a face wash that is good for your skin type and doing what you want it to do (clearing acne, reducing oil, scrubbing dead skin, etc). Every good skincare routine, needs a good cleanser. I personally have been using and loving these three for most of 2017 and I love them all. The first guy in that lineup (after the Clarisonic, we’ll get to her later!) is my Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask and I have been using this one for years now. I love it because it leaves my skin feeling incredibly clean and gives that nice “cooling” feeling when you rinse it off (I’m a sucker for that, ha!). It’s also great because you can use it two ways, as noted in the name. I like to use it as a daily cleanser for hardcore breakout moments; simply applying it to my wet face and rinsing off immediately. And for other, deeper cleans, I like to use it as a mask. I’ll leave it on for the duration of my shower and really let it soak into my skin and then rinse it off just before I get out. Love this stuff and I can’t say enough good things and have been using it for so long! It’s definitely a holy grail product in my skincare lineup.
Next up we have my two faves from The Body Shop. These are the Squeaky Clean Scrub and Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser from their Tea Tree line. A coworker actually recommended these to me back in the spring of this year and I absolutely love them! You’re probably wondering why I need these guys when I just raved about the first cleanser but in case you don’t know, your skin can actually get used to products that you regularly use, making them less effective. So for a while I only used my Neutrogena cleanser but over time I realized that I was getting oily faster throughout the day and knew it was time to switch it up. So getting back to my Body Shop products (sorry for that little tangent, ha!) I like to use these more regularly than the Neutrogena because they’re a bit less intense. I love love LOVE the scrub (yes, it’s worth all 3 of those love’s 😉 ) and use that about 3 times a week to make sure I’m getting rid of any dead skin/impurities, keeping my skin as fresh and smooth as possible. On the other days, I’ll use the foaming cleanser for a quick, casual wash. Both of these are really great and I definitely recommend.
Okay finally onto the Clarisonic. I’ll keep this one short and sweet, promise! This is the Mia 1 and I use this about once a week (usually on Sunday) to get a super deep clean to start the week off right. I only got it a few months ago but I definitely enjoy how clean my face feels afterwards and I like the idea that I’m really getting in there and thoroughly cleaning my face. I’ve been using it with the sample cleanser that comes with it and have been really liking the two together so far! Currently in the market for another good cleanser to pair with it once the sample is gone so stay tuned!
Moisturizers
Moving on to the moisturizers, which are also incredibly important for ALL skin types! I have combination/oily skin (especially in the summer when it’s hotter out!) so I tend to go for moisturizers that are oil-free and are mattifying/control oil. When you have oily skin, it’s so important to moisturize after cleansing because it provides that much-needed moisture back into your skin and stops your body from producing excess oil which ends up making you look oily later in the day (fun fact!). For this, I have these two guys.
Starting with my holy grail, favorite moisturizer ever…it’s the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer (woo, that’s a long one!). This can be found at Target or your local drugstore and is around $6, but it’s so great you guys! It does a great job of moisturizing my skin, but since it’s a gel instead of a cream, it doesn’t get too oily or feel too thick. I also love the smell— it’s so fresh and lightly fruity, and I love that!
Next up we have this moisturizer from The Body Shop and it’s the Seaweed Oil Control Gel Cream. I used this mainly during the summertime, just because I wanted to try something new. (Like I said before, your skin gets used to products so it’s important to switch things up!) I ended up really liking it and find myself still alternating between both moisturizers throughout the week. This one also has a great gel consistency which really works for my skin.
Makeup Removers
Finally (kudos to you if you’re still with me!) we have the makeup removers. Of course I have options for this step as well because clearly your girl just loves her options, ha! On my lazy days, I’ve been loving these Garnier SkinActive Micellar Makeup Removing Towelettes. They’re really gentle and soft, and I can totally get away with using one of these babies to remove ALL of my makeup! I also love them because since they’re micellar water-based, they don’t leave any kind of weird residue or feeling on my skin afterwards. For days that I’m feeling more thorough, I’ll use the actual Micellar Water from Garnier. I just squeeze a bit of this onto a couple of cotton swabs and wipe down my face. In reality, both of these work great and you really can’t go wrong either way.
Woo! That is all of my favorite and current skincare products at the moment. I hope you guys didn’t fall asleep reading all of that and definitely let me know if you try any of these products! Also let me know what skincare products you’ve been loving this year, because I’m always on the market for something new 😉
