Somehow we’ve made it to mid-October, meaning a lot of the country is in peak fall foliage season, which means it’s the perfect time for an impromptu road trip to marvel at Mother Nature and embrace the fall season. For all my fellow fall lovers out there, this one is for you. My boyfriend and I are packing our bags and heading for an exciting weekend in the ultimate fall destination—Stowe, Vermont! Naturally, I had to share my fall road trip packing list here on the blog.
I am so excited, I could nearly explode. We booked this little weekend getaway back in August with the help of a friend who works for a travel company (thanks Case!). Stowe is about a 5-6 hour drive from NYC, and I can’t wait to hop in our rental car and drive up through New England. Fun fact, I’ve never been north of Connecticut so I’m excited to expand my travels and venture more north.
You know those super cute, idyllic towns in Hallmark Channel movies? Yeah, I’m imagining Stowe to be just like that. Bring on the hot apple cider, the red and gold leaves covering the endless trees on the mountainside, crisp fall air, and (hopefully) cobble stone streets! (Editor’s note: if you’re from Vermont or have been to Stowe and know that there aren’t, in fact, cobblestone streets—please don’t laugh at me. A girl can dream!)
Wow I’ve gotten off topic, ha! The point of today’s post is actually to share the perfect fall road trip packing list, aka what I’m bringing with me to Stowe. Obviously I’m overpacking for a quick weekend getaway, but I’m a notorious over-packer and it’s a character flaw I’ve come to accept about myself. In my bag you’ll find the world’s comfiest, stretchy jeans; a couple of ponchos I truly cannot wait to wrap myself up in while sitting next to a fire pit; the obligatory chunky knit sweater; a fun midi skirt for dinner; a couple pairs of boots (one for exploring, one for meals—duh!); and some loungewear because this is 2020 and that’s all we wear anymore. Not complaining by the way—I very much love living in loungewear.
