Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I love candles. It’s actually a bit of a running joke in my family about how many candles I have, hah! I can’t help it; I just love how cozy they instantly make a room and obviously all the good smells (smells are very important to me). My favorites, hands down, are from Bath and Body Works (and no I’m not being sponsored or influenced in any way to say this!) and I know that some people don’t get the hype or think they’re overpriced, but I love them. I’d also be lying if I said their gorgeous packaging didn’t also draw me in, hah! Well since last week I broke down my five favorite fall lipsticks (wow that’s a mouthful!), I thought it would be fun to make it into a series and share my five favorite fall candles! Let me know if you like this series so far and what other categories I should cover. Now let’s get into the post…I’m breaking down my five fave candles, how Bath and Body Works describes their scent, and my actual review of each. Enjoy!
Key Notes (according to BBW): Golden honey crisp, apple blossom, fresh sugarcane
My Review: Okay so this candle is pretty spot on with the description and the name; it totally smells like you’d expect—fresh, juicy apples! It’s a really light, bright, apple scent that you can’t go wrong with.
Key Notes: Fresh ground cinnamon, sugar crystals, Tahitian vanilla bean
My Review: So unlike Heirloom Apple, this candle is probably a more polarizing scent (meaning you’ll either love it or hate it). It’s one of their heavier, super sweet, dessert-smelling scents which I personally LOVE but I know some people are like ‘woah, that’s way too much.’ (Like my boyfriend Craig, ha!) Also if you’re familiar with BBW candles, you may remember another fall candle they had a couple of years ago called Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut. This smells exactly like that! This candle smells like you’re literally baking a fresh cinnamon sugary dessert in your oven and may induce a serious sweet tooth, so burn with caution 😉
Key Notes: Juicy red apple, golden nectar, spiced berries, warm clove spice
My Review: This is one of my all-time favorite candles, y’all. I’m pretty sure I’ve purchased at least one Leaves candle every fall for the last like four years, ha! It’s just such a quintessential fall scent (totally fitting with the name, obviously) and smells like a slightly musky (not sure that’s even the right word) cinnamon apple cider. That doesn’t sound that great, but I swear it is! It’s such a classic scent and is another safe bet to burn in your home when you have company over and not worry that they’ll hate the smell.
Key Notes: Roasted chestnut, clove buds, pine, cedarwood, velvety moss
My Review: Omg I had to include this candle on the list because while this is the first year that I bought it, I also burned through it in one month! I decided to start off fall with this candle and if you saw my Fall Home Tour post a couple of weeks ago, you probably noticed this guy living in my coffee table basket. Well, I burned this thing so much that sadly it is officially burnt out! I tried to light it on Monday actually and it’s so low that the wicks couldn’t stay lit 🙁 so sad. But that’s how you know it’s good. This one is a bit different than the others and doesn’t have much of a food/drink smell. It’s like a smoky, clove, manly cologne kind of smell (also with a hint of cool, fall air if that makes sense!) and myself and Craig have been loving it! I’ll seriously light it when I get home from work and just let it burn all evening/night until I start to get ready for bed. Definitely will be repurchasing in the future and can see myself burning this guy through winter!
Key Notes: Red delicious apple, fall pumpkin, fresh ground cinnamon, clove bud
My Review: So I actually purchased this candle last fall and just dug it out for this season and remembered how much I love it! This was one of my go-to candles last fall and now that my Chestnut & Clove candle is done, this may be the new coffee table candle. It smells mostly like apples, but there is definitely a hint of pumpkin/cinnamon in there too which is nice. It’s not SUPER different from Heirloom Apple, but there’s definitely an extra kick in there compared to the pure apple smell of the first candle.
