It’s officially December! That means so many things this year—the end to a truly crazy year; the kickoff to Christmastime if you’re one of those people who holds off on decorating until after Thanksgiving; and the promise and excitement of a new year on the horizon. I just love December. Probably because I’m a Christmas fanatic; truly, I’m basically Buddy the Elf hah! Though I can’t believe we’ve made it to December 2020, and we’re rounding the corner to the end of this insane year, I do look forward to this month all year long so I’m feeling really good today.
December Intentions
1) Make time for (and actually do it!) meaningful reflection. This year has been a whirlwind and I feel like I need to sit down and truly reflect on everything: how far we’ve come; goals I made and didn’t keep; goals I made and knocked out of the park; and all of the really special moments that happened this year in spite of (and sometimes even because of) COVID.
2) ENJOY THE SEASON. Like I mentioned earlier, you might as well call me Buddy The Elf because I LOVE Christmas. Yet the older I get, I find that this month always seems to get away from me somehow. This year, as things have drastically slowed down and there are much less distractions, I want to do all the Christmas things like holiday movie marathons, lots of baking, lots of Christmas music, lots of hot cocoa with a mountain of marshmallows, and truly enjoy all of the time with mine and Craig’s families. Who knows if we’ll ever get another season like this, so I want to make it count.
3) Make a concrete plan for 2021. It feels weird to even type this out, to be honest. But I’ve been feeling lately like I’m on the precipice of some big change…in a positive way! I feel like I’m on the verge of a big move or shift in my life, and while I’m not sure what exactly that is, I think I’m ready for it. This year I’ve had a lot of time at home to think about my life and where I want to go from here, and I want to further meditate on that this month after my reflection session and make a real plan to to take action next year. We don’t know what 2021 looks like right now or what it holds for us, and that’s okay. But I want to take back control of the things I *can* control like my health, and my career, for example. I hope that makes sense. Basically, I feel like 2021 will be my year, as cliche as that sounds, and I’m SO ready for it.
December Style Picks
I mentioned in last month’s Hello November post that I can’t resist a bit of sparkle, and that definitely has held true. On my radar right now are all the sparkles. I’m not sure what exactly New Year’s Eve will look like for all of us, but dammit if nothing else I’ll be twirling in a sequined dress in my living room at the very least!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post welcoming December! You can expect a monthly moodboard along with my intentions/goals and style picks from here on out so make sure to check back each month! Let me know what you’re most looking forward to this holiday season and as always, head over to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to follow along in real time.
