If you follow me on Instagram, or you’ve been around here for a while, you know that fall is my absolute favorite season and that I’ve had fall on the brain for the past week or two. I can’t help it! With September right around the corner and the mornings and evenings getting slightly cooler here in NYC, I can basically taste the pumpkin spice. No really, I did go get an iced pumpkin spice latte from Dunkin the other day lol. All that to say, your girl is ready for fall. So naturally I’ve been eyeing my closet to see what can transition to the season ahead and what should probably get a few more wears in before heading to storage. Today’s dress, my friends, is in the can’t-wait-to-transition category. Not to mention it’s the perfect shade of marigold that is a staple fall trend every year.
So let’s chat about this Free People dress for a minute. It’s midi-length which you already know I love. It has these adorable tie details on the elbow-length sleeves and neckline. The pop of pink in the embroidered flowers is too cute and such a fun accent color on the dress. Plus it’s the lightest, most flow-y material so you won’t overheat in the summertime, yet it’s not sheer at all. I’m also a huge sucker for marigold; I just think it’s such a universally flattering shade, as you’ll see at the end of this post. I partnered with seven other bloggers of all skin tones to show how gorgeous this trendy fall color looks on everyone! Make sure to scroll to the end to see everyone’s looks!
The best thing about marigold though, is that while it’s a gorgeous fall color, it also works in the summertime unlike some other autumnal hues. I paired this marigold dress with my favorite brown espadrille sandals and some gold jewelry and was out the door for a summer afternoon of lunch and shopping. And by the end of next month when temperatures start to drop and there’s a nice chill in the air, I’ll pair this same dress with my favorite denim jacket and a neutral fall bootie to complete the look. We love a dress that can do both.
Oh and how could I forget the accessory of the season—masks lol. Love them or hate them, masks are here to stay for at least the duration of this year and to be totally honest, I’m not at all convinced they won’t be around in 2021. So that being said, it’s time to stock up on some cute and reusable masks if you’ve been reluctant like me. I recently ordered two multi-packs from Old Navy and you guys, they’re amazing. They come in sets of five for just $12.50 and they have a huge assortment of colors and prints for you to choose from. I personally chose two packs that came with solids and pretty patterns so I had a lot of variety when it came to my outfits. Below you can see my three favorite ways to wear them: as a monochromatic look, an accent color, or going all out with a fun print!
