I’ve mentioned this a few times in my monthly recap series but I freaking love podcasts, you guys. If I have my headphones in at work or during my commute, 95% of the time I’m listening to a podcast. It’s kind of crazy because I only got into them a few years ago and now I’m completely obsessed. I’m constantly looking for new podcasts to listen to, so today I wanted to share some of my current favorites. I imagine this list will obviously change/grow over time and I want to keep updating it as my tastes change so that if any of you lovely readers are looking for recommendations, you have a master list. *Please note that most of these podcasts are linked below with Spotify but they’re also available on Apple podcasts as well!
My Favorite Podcasts (as of spring 2019)
Comments By Celebs I found out about this podcast through a coworker and became obsessed real quick. It’s basically a weekly show where the co-hosts Emma and Julie discuss all the major pop culture news from that week. They’ve also added a Kardashian bonus episode each week since that family always has something going on. Honestly I cannot say enough good things about this one. If you love pop culture and/or the Kardashians like I do then this is a must-listen. I’ve seriously never heard people speak so passionately about pop culture/Kardashian news and it’s both hilarious and super informative. I constantly catch myself smiling/laughing whenever I listen to this podcast. 10/10 recommend.
Bachelor Party This is a Bachelor(ette) recap podcast that I really enjoy. I listen to quite a few Bachelor podcasts (slightly addicted?) and this one is really good. The host Juliet does a good job of recapping the show in an entertaining way and usually has guests with extra incite/interesting POVs to flush out the show. It’s a good one if you’re on the hunt for a Bachelor podcast.
2 Black Girls 1 Rose I promise this is not going to be a comprehensive list of Bachelor podcasts, haha. But I’d be remiss not to mention this one since it’s easily my favorite! Justine and Natasha are (as the title would suggest) two black women who recap the Bachelor franchise through a different lens—black culture. I love their podcast because I almost always find myself nodding in agreement with their commentary and noticing the same things that they noticed during the show. They’re hilarious and also do a great job of giving really detailed recaps. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something other than your average Bachelor podcast. *Note: they recently moved their podcast over to Patreon, where you can pay $5/month to support their awesome podcast in order to listen. Trust me, they’re worth it.
Betch Slapped I’ve been listening to this podcast by The Betches for a while now and it’s still one of my go-to podcasts. This is another pop culture news podcast but they also recap popular TV shows for part of the episode which can be fun. I love The Betches because they basically are completely unfiltered and unapologetic, which makes for some hilarious content. I’ve been a huge fan of their blog for years and they’ve expanded into multiple podcasts, books, and now a dating app.
Blogging Unscripted This is a great podcast if you’re a blogger, Instagrammer, influencer, or anyone who has an interest in improving their content creation. Danielle is a blogger who recently started this podcast to share her tips and tricks that she’s learned during her blogging journey and WOW, is she helpful. This podcast is so good that I literally have to stop and take notes during it sometimes. From pitching to brands, to Instagram hacks and beyond, this is a great podcast for content creators.
The Influencer Podcast Another goodie for my blogging girls, you all probably know this one already. Julie Solomon is a huge name in the blogging world and she brings all of her knowledge and experience from her PR background to this podcast. Each episode is jam packed with tips and tricks to grow your business and she interviews some heavy-hitters.
Honorable Mentions
These are the podcasts that I don’t regularly listen to but that I enjoy(ed) every once in a while.
Serial This is like the Godfather of podcasts and I’m sure you already know of it. But it was my very first podcast that got me into the podcast world, so I recommend it to everyone. I personally only listened to season one because I was so invested in Adnan’s story, but I still recommend it.
PrettyBasic I went back and forth about adding this podcast because, to be honest, it’s kind of become less and less interesting for me. It’s hosted by two huge Youtubers Remi and Alisha, whose channels I’ve been subscribed to for years. They basically just chat about their lives and experiences which, personally has grown a bit stale for me. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this podcast in the beginnning. It was fun listening to their stories and getting to see new sides to their personalities that they don’t show on Youtube, BUT they also get pretty repetitive as the episodes go on. There’s only so many times I can hear the girls talk about “full circle moments” and these ominous “really dark times” they had last year at Coachella. So the jury is still out on this one but if you’re into them/youtube, I’d say give it a listen and see for yourself! Their episode about managers, agents and all the other ins-and-outs of being a successful Youtuber is actually super interesting and my favorite episode.
The Mattie James Show Mattie is a super successful lifestyle blogger that I really admire. Her podcast is really helpful and full of her tips to make some serious $$$ from your blog. I put her with the honorable mentions only because she hasn’t uploaded new episodes as frequently anymore; but she just had her second baby and is killing it with her blog so I don’t blame her at all!
So that’s my recommended podcasts list! Do you listen to any of these podcasts? I’d love to hear your favorites down in the comments so I can add to this list in the future. As always come hang out with me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and be sure to join my newsletter squad if you want to keep up with my future posts!
