Happy Monday and welcome to August, friends! I know everyone says it but I truly can’t believe we’ve made it to August already. That is just insane. I’m sure you can tell from the title of this post, what we’re going to be chatting about today—the one and only Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The big #NSALE officially kicks off TOMORROW for the highest status of Nordstrom cardholders so I figured it’s definitely time to cover all things NSale. Today I’m sharing exactly what the sale is, how you can shop it, where & how you can find all of my personal sale picks, and of course a huge giveaway at the end of this post. Here we go!
I did a quick Instagram stories poll over on my profile last week to gauge you guys’ interest in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and to see what exactly you’re shopping for this year, if you’re shopping it at all. It seemed pretty split, but about 60% of you said you are shopping the sale. And of that 60%, most of you are shopping for fall clothes and fall shoes. This was a really helpful poll for me because I want to make sure I’m tailoring my content to you guys and your needs, plus I know not to bombard you with NSale content since not everyone is shopping. Now, let’s get into the info that you came here for!
What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is arguably one of the biggest of the year, save for Black Friday obviously. The cool thing about it is that it isn’t a sale full of markdowns on last season’s product (like spring and summer) that you’ve already picked through. It’s actually a sale on thousands of (mostly new) fall products at a big discount. These are products that haven’t even hit stores yet, which makes it more exciting. They also have deals on classic pieces that you may already have on your wishlist, exclusive beauty deals & sets, and even deals on home decor! The sale is usually during the month of July but this year it got pushed back to August (thanks COVID), and I actually think this is better timing since fall is right around the corner and I don’t feel so crazy buying booties and leopard print blanket scarves, ha!
When does the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale start?
So this is the “tricky” part. Nordstrom allows early access to its cardholders (people who have a Nordstrom credit card), and this year they’re letting people shop the sale based on their card status before opening the sale up to everyone else (non-cardholders). Here are the official dates/shopping windows for cardholders and non-cardholders.
Now I’ll quickly touch on the cardholder statuses for those who aren’t familiar. Basically, you reach different status levels the more you shop with your Nordstrom credit card. The first level is Insider, spend a bit more and reach Influencer status, spend a bit more and reach Ambassador status, and finally the highest status is Icon. Each status also comes with its own benefits such as free tailoring, extra Double Points Days, access to invite-only events…you get it. So if you have a Nordstrom card, I’d recommend popping over to nordstrom.com now and seeing what status you are so that you know when you’re able to shop the sale. If you aren’t a cardholder, don’t sweat it! You’ll get access to the sale on August 19, so stay tuned!
I also feel obligated to say that I am by no means, saying that you should open up a credit card to shop early. Admittedly, I did that last year, but I decided it was important for my blog and chalked it up to a business decision more than an emotional one. If you’re in a financial place where a credit card will benefit you and won’t burden you, I say go for it. But if you aren’t, please do not put yourself in debt or in a bad spot financially over this sale. It’s truly just a sale, and while I know there is a lot of hype around it, we have to keep things in perspective at the end of the day. Be smart and do what’s best for you!
How will I personally be covering the sale?
Well, when I polled you guys (can you tell I loved this freaking poll?!) you overwhelmingly chose for me to share my picks over on Instagram stories. That was really cool to me because I do already try to share sale finds on there, so I will continue to do that. However, IG stories only last for 24 hours and I also realize that my blog audience doesn’t always trickle over to Instagram and vice versa, so I will be sharing my picks right here on the blog as well!
