How on earth is October basically over already? I swear every year, fall gets shorter and shorter and this year is absolutely no exception. I wasn’t sure that Craig and I would get a chance to go apple picking before the season ended this year, but one weekend opened up this month and we were able to make the trip outside of the city for the day, and head to partake in my absolute favorite fall activity…apple picking!
Last year we went to the fall festival at Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard and had the BEST time, so this year we knew we wanted to go back. We ended up having to split our time between Harvest Moon and the orchard/farm across the street, Outhouse Orchards, because Harvest Moon was actually out of apples! Outhouse Orchards was just as cute though and was such a great experience. There were a TON of apples on their trees still and I couldn’t believe our luck. However I will say, after a thorough taste test, Craig and I both agree that Harvest Moon has better apple cider donuts! Just a little side note for any of my local New Yorkers looking to make the trip, haha.
Any way, the day that we went ended up being the perfect fall day. It started out a bit overcast and chilly but after a couple of hours, the sun came out and cast the most gorgeous glow over the beautiful landscape. One of my favorite parts about escaping the city in the fall is all of the gorgeous fall foliage and autumnal hues on the trees that we get to soak up that day. Up in North Salem, we were surrounded by the prettiest trees and hills as far as the eye could see.
This gorgeous plaid wrap was the perfect layer for the day. It’s from J.McLaughlin (where I currently work!), and is admittedly a splurge for me, but if you’re looking for a great gift for mom or your bestie, I highly recommend this guy. It’s super soft and just thick enough to be a nice layer on a breezy fall day. This day I threw it on over a basic white tee and it was perfect; but when the temperatures drop a bit more, it would be perfect layered over a cozy knit sweater or turtleneck. Can you say Thanksgiving outfit anyone? I also loved this wrap because it was basically like a comfy blanket that I could wrap myself up in on the train ride home, which is a win in my book.
I’ve linked a few more cozy wraps that I have my eye on, at all price points!
