This year, I wanted to do something a little different when it came to Thanksgiving outfit inspiration. Last year I shared a couple of outfit posts showing you my go-to casual styles for Thanksgiving (check those out HERE and HERE if you’re interested!), but this year, I had a thought. Everyone has their own Thanksgiving traditions and events. Some people’s Turkey Day may be a simple dinner with close family, with everyone cozied up in their favorite pajamas; someone else may get all dolled up and enjoy a five course meal with family from far and wide; and there are so many other scenarios in between! So this time around, I figured I’d bring a little inspo for everyone in this year’s Thanksgiving Style Guide. Here are five outfits that are perfect for the start of the holidays, rated on a scale from 1 to 5, based on the effort you’re trying to put in. Shall we?

Thanksgiving Style Guide Level 1
Starting with level one on the PLH Effort Scale, we have the comfy and cozy ensemble. This one is for the girl who just wants to be comfy and ready for the inevitable food coma that is coming after dinner. This one is also for my Black Friday warriors who are ready to start online shopping the second they finish their plate.
Level 1 Necessities:
Flannel Pajama Pants (plaid is v fall/festive)
Cozy Tee (this knotted detail on this one gives it a little something extra)
The Fuzziest Cardigan or pullover you can find (sherpa is always a good idea)
Cozy Moccasins (can never go wrong with a faux fur lined moccasin that slips on and off easily)

Thanksgiving Style Guide Level 2
Level two is for the girl whose plans don’t call for much effort but they do require leaving the house. She wants to look like she didn’t just roll out of bed, but again comfort is key here. Nobody wants to be in their skinniest jeans while they’re nursing a food baby.
Level 2 Necessities:
Black Leggings (preferably high waisted for that slimming factor but your comfiest pair will do)
Oversized Flannel (this part is very important; must be oversized and as soft as possible. MAXIMUM COZY)
Converse All Stars (the platform ones add a little bit of sass)
Cute Mini Backpack (you know, to hold all the things that we girls NEED to bring with us that we actually end up barely using)

Thanksgiving Style Guide Level 3
Okay now we’re getting into the “it took me over 10 minutes to get ready” outfits. Level three is all about keeping it casual but just cute enough that you look like you tried. Still cozy, but a little more attention to detail gives this outfit the next level distinction. This one is for my girl who may run into that cute neighbor or parent’s friend’s son who hasn’t seen her since before she left for college last year. She’s cute but definitely not trying too hard.
Level 3 Necessities:
Olive Jeggings (or any jeggings really, but these olive ones are so cute for fall)
Ribbed Turtleneck (let’s be real, turtlenecks automatically make you look put together)
Chenille Cardigan (ooh I love me some chenille, and this cardigan is the perfect layering piece to keep this look cozy & hide your food baby; two birds, one stone)
Faux Suede Loafers (like turtlenecks, I instantly assume you have your sh*t together if you’re in loafers)
Gold Accessories like these earrings and this necklace (to complete the look)

Thanksgiving Style Guide Level 4
Okay so level four and level five could honestly be interchangeable if you ask me, since they both require a bit of effort on your part. A level four girl is looking to impress and show off just a tiny bit. Who knows? Maybe if you look cute enough it’ll stop your (least favorite) aunt from asking why you’re still single; or it could do the exact opposite…good luck!
Level 4 Necessities:
Sweater Dress (this one has a cute mock neck and is flow-y enough that it shouldn’t offend anyone)
Tights (you can go opaque here or something more fun like these polka dot ones)
Knee-High Boots (to balance out the dress and keep your legs warm; it’s basically December girl!)
Leather Belt (this is optional but can elevate a simple sweater dress if you’re looking for a little something extra)
Statement Earrings (this emerald green pair is stunning and brings this otherwise neutral look to life)

Thanksgiving Style Guide Level 5
Congratulations, we’ve made it to level five! If you’re still with me then you must be my level five girl. In my mind, as a non-level five girl, you’re a Blair Waldorf kinda girl. Your Thanksgiving day festivities call for a full face of makeup and an equally put-together ensemble. You came to stunt and your company would expect no less.
Level 5 Necessities:
Plaid Overall Skirt (plaid is so classic, and the overalls and buttons give this skirt a bit of added sass)
Lettuce Edge Mock Neck Top (the cute ruffles on the neck & sleeves showing outside the overalls give it some feminine flair)
Heeled Booties (the pointed toe on these bad boys show you mean business)
Cute Crossbody Bag (what outfit is complete without the perfect accessories? plus this bag is a bit of a showstopper)
Layered Gold Necklaces (complete the look and fill that empty space between the overall straps)
And that’s it for my 2018 Thanksgiving Style Guide! What did you guys think of this post? Did you like it, love it, hate it? Come let me know in the comments or over on Instagram or Twitter and tell me which outfit was your favorite!
