I think I speak for the everyone here on the East Coast when I say that I’m SO happy spring is finally here. I mean we had a couple of random, nice days here and there during March, but with May right around the corner, those nice days are becoming much more consistent which has been such a breath of fresh air. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really enjoy winter but by the end of it I’m so ready to break out my spring/summer clothes and get some much needed sunshine on my skin. (Wow, I’m getting completely off topic here, ha!) The point of today’s post is not to chat about spring vs. winter; I’m actually here today to chat nail colors with you guys! Fun little fact: I used to work at L’Oréal. And while I was there, the main brand that I worked on was essie, so I got pretty knee-deep in nail polish for about two years. All that to say, this post is absolutely NOT sponsored or connected to essie in any way, shape, or form; I just really like the brand and happen to have a pretty massive collection of polish now, ha! And today I thought it would be fun to share some of my current favorite shades for spring with you guys!
Up first we have Perfect Posture, which is a shade from essie’s Gel Couture line. I personally really like the Gel Couture line because the formula is created to last longer than a regular manicure (like a gel would) without taking all the extra time and steps that gel manicures take. I particularly love this periwinkle blue shade because a) I’m a sucker for spring pastels (if you couldn’t already tell), and b) it’s such a nice pale shade that it pretty much works with any outfit that you throw on this season. I also have to award some bonus points for going on nice and opaque after just one coat. I always do two or three coats of polish just to be thorough, but I appreciate when light colors don’t go on streaky to begin with!
Next on my list we have Baguette Me Not, a gorgeous lilac color that I always find myself gravitating towards when the weather gets warmer. You simply can’t go wrong with a lavender or lilac shade; purple compliments nearly every skin tone. I like to go for lighter purples in the spring, and this color totally reminds me of a fresh bouquet of spring flowers. This is definitely a go-to for me.
Next up we have Urban Jungle— an essie classic! This polish is the ultimate neutral, perfect for pretty much any season or occasion, so of course it had to make my list! I find myself reaching for this when I want to feel a bit more sophisticated and simple with my nail color. It’s a really nice creamy alabaster shade that kind of is a perfect mix between tan, white and gray. It’s just a great shade to have in your arsenal and looks good at all times. Huge fan over here!
And of course, another essie classic had to make my list: Fiji. This iconic shade is one of the oldest essie shades and is such a classic for a reason. The universally flattering pink shade is a go-to for so many ladies out there and I totally see why. This is the perfect girly shade for springtime while still being relatively neutral (when you compare it to some of the other bubblegum pinks out there!).
Last but certainly not least, I had to round off my list with another pastel blue shade. Pastel blues are admittedly some of my favorites, especially for spring and summer. This one is called Blue-La-La and is also by essie. It’s a gorgeous sky blue that I feel looks great on pretty much all skin tones, and is so pretty outside in the sun.
