What is Smile Brilliant and how does it work?
Smile Brilliant is a professional-quality, at-home whitening system. It’s created by dental professionals, and is the #1 dentist recommended whitening procedure (so you know it’s good!). Smile Brilliant works by using custom dental trays of your exact teeth, which are super cool. Imagine it’s like getting your own Invisalign trays except they’re for whitening. Any who, once you make the dental impressions and receive your custom fitted trays, you simply add the gel to the trays and wear them for up to 3 hours at a time. It works because the gel is able to spread evenly and really coat your teeth since the trays fit your teeth perfectly. It’s super easy and SO convenient.
What does your kit come with?
So glad you asked! I received the T3 Kit for sensitive teeth, so mine came with two plastic trays to make my dental impressions (not pictured), base paste & catalyst paste (for the impressions), and then a few syringes of both the teeth whitening gel and the desensitizing gel. It also comes with a padded envelope and prepaid postage so that you can send your impressions back to the lab so they can create your custom trays. They literally take care of everything for you!
My Experience with Smile Brilliant
Like I said earlier I received the T3 Sensitive system, and to be completely honest with you guys, I was NERVOUS! My teeth have been pretty sensitive my entire life, so I was really apprehensive to try out this professional strength whitening gel that required a desensitizing gel to use with it. But I put on my big girl pants and gave it a go, and I’m so glad that I did!
So first things first, you have to create your dental impressions for your custom trays, which is actually kind of fun. It only takes about 10 minutes or so and once that’s done you just send it back to the Smile Brilliant lab in the prepaid packaging that you received in the kit. They also include really detailed instructions for every step of this process which are super helpful.
Once you receive your custom fitted trays in the mail, you’re ready to whiten. For this, you just add a thin, even layer of whitening gel into the trays and press them onto your teeth. Smile Brilliant recommends wearing them for 45 minutes – 3 hours at a time. The first night that I tried this, I wore it for the minimum 45 minutes (I was nervous remember!?). But to my surprise, my teeth felt completely fine! And even more to my surprise, I could already see results! My teeth were noticeably whiter after just that one use alone. However, I will say to make sure that you follow the instructions for where to put the whitening gel and how to put the trays into your mouth. Somehow I messed up a little and found that only the lower half of my top row of teeth got whitened! ? Ha! Afterwards, you apply the desensitizing gel the same way that you applied the whitening gel, except this time you only wear it for about 15-20 minutes. And that’s it! Session 1, done! I was so relieved once I had successfully done a round of whitening and felt so silly for stressing as much as I did! The next few nights that I whitened, I started to increase the whitening time. So the first session I only did 45 minutes; the second time I did about 1 hour and 15 minutes; and then the next time I did it for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Like I mentioned earlier, my favorite part about the Smile Brilliant system is the convenience! Seriously you guys, I’m currently sitting here on my couch, writing this blog post, WHILE whitening! I literally have the trays in my mouth as I type this; that’s how easy it is. They’re so comfortable that I actually forget I have them in after the first 10 minutes or so.
My Results: Before & After
Here are my personal results after finishing just one syringe of the whitening gel (each syringe gets you 3-4 whitening sessions!). Awesome, right? What I love about this product is that you really get a lot of product for your money so you can use this kit on more than one occasion. I, for one, have a few weddings and events coming up this year so I know that I’ll be using the rest of my syringes for each of those events or whenever I feel that I need a little refresh.
