As most of you know, me and the boyfriend took a quick weekend trip down to Atlanta recently for a friend’s wedding. I absolutely love Atlanta so I was so pumped to go down for a weekend trip with Craig. In this post I want to recap our trip, including where we stayed, ate, and hung out! Stay tuned for a full his & hers post about our wedding guest looks coming soon! Okay, let’s get into it shall we?
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the Loews Atlanta hotel located in Midtown, and you guys, it was so perfect. A little known fact about me is that I LOVE hotels. I know that a lot of millennials (especially my friends) rave about AirBnb for its affordability and cool selection of places to stay (which I totally get), but I really like staying in hotels. Something about them makes me feel more like I’m actually traveling versus just staying in someone else’s home? I don’t know, it’s hard to explain. Any way we absolutely loved staying at the Loews Atlanta. It’s in a really prime location in Midtown, and was so conveniently located near every place that we went during our stay. Seriously, every Uber we took was only like a 10-15 minute drive which was fabulous since traffic in Atlanta can get crazy! There were a bunch of other hotels nearby, restaurants, and convenience stores and salons within walking distance. I actually ended up walking to a nearby nail salon called Piedmont Nail Bar to get my eyebrows waxed (per the recommendation from the super friendly concierge staff!) and it was so great. I’m very particular about my eyebrows since they are pretty prominent features on my face (something I’ve grown to love!), and the girl at Piedmont did a GREAT job. (Literally going to her every time I’m in ATL from now on, ha!)
But onto our actual room at the Loews. I did a full tour of the room on insta stories so if you aren’t following me there, what are you doing?! We stayed in one of their Grand Suites with a king bed and were so pleasantly surprised when we got there. The room was huge for a hotel room (probably the size of our Brooklyn apartment, ha!), and had a living area that was separated from the bedroom space with a glass divider wall. There was also a big walk-in closet and huge bathroom. Both the living area and the bedroom had flat screen TVs, which was nice; we loved that we could watch TV in bed, something we can’t do in NYC since our only TV is in the living room. Oh! Did I mention that when we got to our room we found the sweetest surprise treat— chocolate covered strawberries and some chilled Prosecco? Needless to say, I was a happy girl!
The service at the Loews was also truly exceptional. Upon check-in I received a text message from the hotel staff letting us know that we could text that number for any of our needs during our stay. I thought that was so sweet (and convenient!) and we did end up using it a couple of times to request small things like ice water and pillows in our room. Everyone was really friendly (perks of being in the South!) and timely with any service requests that we needed. We also ended up ordering room service for lunch on Saturday during our trip, and were super happy with that as well (more deets below in the What We Ate section of this post ?). Overall, we loved staying at the Loews and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Atlanta soon!
What We Did
We were actually in Atlanta for a wedding (congratulations again, Brandon & Shalisha!!) and were only in town for about 36 hours so we didn’t get to go out and explore nearly as much as I would have liked. Atlanta is one of my favorite cities, so I love trying out new places every time I’m there. Once we got settled into our hotel on Friday night, we ended up meeting up with a bunch of friends and heading over to this placed called The Painted Duck. It’s like a bar/lounge/bowling place and it was so much fun! I highly recommend heading here for a fun night out if you’re looking for something to do while in Atlanta. They also had these insane sparkly cocktails — so yummy and so pretty! Gotta love a little sparkle ?
On Saturday we ended up taking it easy that morning. We both had a little too much fun at The Painted Duck, if you get what I’m saying, so we let ourselves sleep in on Saturday and order room service for lunch while we got ourselves back together, ha! After eating some much needed food, and watching Step Brothers in our room (gotta love that movie), we showered and ran out to take care of some last minute things before getting ready for the wedding. I went over to Piedmont Nail Bar to get my eyebrows done and Craig ran over to CVS to get a couple of toiletries he forgot to pack. We spent Saturday night celebrating the marriage of our good friends and left early Sunday morning.
Where We Ate
Like I said, we weren’t in Atlanta for too long but we did get to try some food and drinks at The Painted Duck which were really good. Highly recommend the loaded tots!! Our friends also ordered some fries, sliders and duck nuggets which I heard good things about. Our room service on Saturday was also really good. We ended up ordering too late for the breakfast menu (so sad because breakfast/brunch is my fave ?) but we ended up getting the chicken tenders and fries (my go-to, don’t judge!), the turkey avocado club (SO GOOD) with a side of fresh fruit, and the white cheddar mac ‘n cheese. Hangover food for the win, hah! Everything was delivered hot and fresh and we really enjoyed all of it. Plus you just can’t beat the convenience of food delivered straight to your room. I also stopped by Caribou Coffee after my eyebrow appointment and ordered a Caramel Caribou Cooler, which is just like a frappuccino from Starbucks. It was really yummy and the perfect pick-me-up. It was so nice strolling around Atlanta with my frozen drink in the 75 degree weather since it’s still not quite spring in NYC yet.
Full Disclosure: Our stay at the Loews Atlanta was at a discounted rate, however all opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own, as always. A huge thank you to Rachel and the entire staff at the Loews Atlanta! We truly enjoyed our stay.
