Welcome to my monthly recap! Here I’ll share all the things I loved, bought, watched, listened to and more during the previous month.
September is here and anyone who’s been around PLH for a while knows that I am LIVING! September is one of my favorite months because it brings the promise of fall and that makes me one happy girl. August feels like ancient history at this point but I’m going to try and rack my brain (and scroll through my iPhone calendar/photos) and recap the month for you guys. Let’s jump right in.
Pretty Little Purchases
Pretty sure I bought a ton in August, especially after our move in July and just the excitement for fall. New seasons always make me want to ditch my closet and buy a ton of new things. I should probably work on that…
Fave Purchases:
These new lip tint crayons from my loves at Colourpop
These biker shorts that I probably wore all month long
This super soft and comfy pullover that I know I’ll get a ton of wear out of in the coming months
These long iPhone charging chords have made such a difference in my day-to-day & I love them
Pretty Little Memories
What did I even do last month? Tons and tons of unpacking around the apartment (embarrassed to admit that we’re still not done lol.) I went down to Tampa to visit my mom, aunts and grandmom with my cousins and had such a wonderful week. I look forward to that trip every summer and it’s really special to me to get that uninterrupted family time, away from the hustle and bustle.
Speaking of hustle and bustle, we shot the holiday catalog for my job around NYC last month and it was intense! Shooting with Craig for the blog is one thing but shooting with an entire crew of people and a group of models in Midtown on an August afternoon is a whole other beast. It was fun though and I’m excited to see all of the shots come back from retouching with lots of “snow” and Christmas cheer!
Finally, Craig and I celebrated our 6th dating anniversary at the end of the month and had such a nice day together. I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by! You can read about our past two anniversaries and get to know us a little better in this post and this post if you’re curious.
What I Listened to…
In spite of myself, I’ve been listening to the Lover album by Taylor Swift pretty much on repeat since it came out. I wasn’t sold when she released the first two singles but the album as a whole definitely feels more “her” and doesn’t disappoint. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Clout by Cardi B & Offset has been my absolute favorite song for the past three weeks so do what you will with that.
What I Watched…
Well we obviously finished Stranger Things and really enjoyed it as a whole. And as a loyal member of Bachelor Nation, I’ve been watching Bachelor in Paradise. This season has been a hot mess (as expected) and I’m actually glad it’s over next week. Currently we’re watching Mind Hunter on Netflix (it’s a little slow though.)
Where We Ate…
Smith & Wollensky
We had our anniversary dinner at this famous steakhouse in Midtown and it was so good! I’m a big steakhouse fan so anywhere I can get a glass of wine and a perfectly cooked filet mignon is good with me. We ordered the crispy soft shell crab appetizer (so good!!), filet mignon, a few raw oysters for Craig, cajun baby potatoes and steamed broccoli and it was all so delicious. The service was also really great and our servers even gave us a complimentary slice of cheesecake for dessert!
Morton’s The Steakhouse
Sensing a theme here? We tried Morton’s during NYC Restaurant Week and loved it! The filet mignon, lobster bisque, mashed potatoes, and veggies were so delicious but the show stopper of the night was the dessert. Craig got the Key Lime Pie (one of his faves) and I got the Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake which I’m still dreaming about today. It was that good.
Sweet Chick
I’ve mentioned this place in previous recaps so I’m not going to go into it again here but this was the perfect ending to a drunk night out with our friends haha.
Parkside Pizza
We ended up here one night for dinner and drinks and unexpectedly brought in one of my best friend’s birthdays at midnight with a round of tequila shots! It was such a spontaneous, fun night out (during the work week, no less!) and this place really surprised me. It’s like a cute pizza restaurant and bar that’s very Brooklyn-esque. Definitely recommend the kale caesar salad, stuffed garlic knots, and the pizzas of course. They were so fresh and clearly made to order; they were delicious.
